Music Lessons at Front Porch
Educational Opportunities at Front Porch Music "by the book" and
"beyond the book" In spite of our sometimes 'laid back' look at the
Porch, teaching music is not something that we take lightly. Learning to
play an instrument or honing one's current skills offers a wonderful
opportunity for self expression, creativity, and achievement for players
of all ages, interests, and technical levels.

No one knows this better than the 27 lifetime musicians who make up
our teaching staff. Countless studies show that learning to play a
musical instrument enhances a child's self esteem, confidence, and
overall learning process. Our goal for young students is that each
develops a healthy balance of interest motivation and talent. When this
balance is achieved, playing music will become a natural part of the
child's entire life. We consider it an honor to be part of children's lives
in this special way.

We also offer a unique and important learning experience for adults:
beginners, intermediate, or Rip Van Winkle players, (you're one of
these if your guitar has been in the closet since Woodstock). Our
approach to teaching all styles of music is to first develop a good
technique foundation and an understanding of written music so that
long term growth is possible. Once the basics are covered, each
student will focus on a style of his or her choosing. Our faculty
members are unique in that they teach "by the book" and "beyond the
book". Each instructor offers the advancing student areas of
specialization. We can custom-tailor lessons in the musical direction of
your choice. This is not a "one size fits all" instruction program: if you
want to learn to play the blues like B.B. King, we have a specialist in
that style. If you have a passion for contemporary pop tunes, we have
teachers available.

It's well known that learning to play an instrument requires dedication,
time, patience and effort. Our belief and experience is that the skills
learned will offer pleasure and opportunity for growth. Our students
range from six to over eighty. From rank beginners and late bloomers
to seasoned pros. You too can learn! Turn off the TV, let a few
